The Het Arresthuis prison in Roermond, Netherlands, which dates back to 1863 and was in use for almost 150 years before closing in 2007, has now been converted into a boutique hotel.
After a makeover by a Dutch hotel group, the 105 prisoner cells have been converted into 40 rooms and suites that open onto a lounge area, which used to be the prison hallway.
The rooms may have modern furnishings, however, the doors remain exactly the same. The hotel has four luxury suites, The Jailer, The Lawyer, the Director and The Judge.
