Bran Castle, also known as ‘Dracula’s Castle’, has officially gone on sale. While Bran Castle was never home to Vlad the Impaler, who was the inspiration behind Bram Stoker’s Dracula character, it is believed to be the influence behind the setting for the novel.
The 14th century castle, located on a cliff in central Romania, boasts 57 rooms, a 22 acre estate and features a dungeon, however, the property has no bathrooms or plumbing whatsoever. The castle is currently a tourist destination which gets over half a million visitors per year, entrance is $6.50. The property is currently owned by descendants of Great Britain’s Queen Victoria, who have the surname ‘Habsburg’.
Anyone wishing to buy Dracula’s Castle will need very deep pockets, in 2007 it was valued at $135 million.
