Detroit was once famous for its automotive industry, today however it’s better known for its abandoned buildings. In the 1950’s the population of Detroit stood at around 1.85 million people, today that number had dwindled down to just above 700,000. With a steady line of people packing up and leaving Detroit it’s hard to ever see the city getting back to the glory days of the mid 20th century.

This abandoned Detroit school (Cass Tech) has since been demolished, in 2007 a major fire ripped through the building and was then demolished in 2011. However, before the fire ruined the old school some great photos were taken by Detroiturbex.com. Using photos from the schools heyday and super imposing them on pictures taken after the building was abandoned you can see just how different things are, something that is sadly happening all over Detroit.
